Everything You Need To Know About Microblading – Microblading Q & A

What Is Microblading?

Everything You Need To Know About Microblading. Microblading is a manual method that allows us to recreate, correct, and improve the appearance of the natural brow. This procedure is ideal for both people who have natural brows and those who don’t. The results are natural-looking and microblading procedure is often considered a type of permanent makeup, however, its concept is different: the ink is deposited with a manual pen the blade of which is 3 times thinner and that allows technicians to draw crisp, thin and natural-looking hair. A consultation appointment is a perfect time to discuss shape, care, and how the process is custom to you. Took book a consultation click here

What to Expect During and After Your Microblading Session

The entire healing process will take from 4-6 weeks depending on your body regeneration and age. Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle.

The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately after the procedure. The color of the pigment will appear much darker the next day.

Note that because of natural skin regeneration, after the recovery period (peeling), brows might appear lighter than original. This might give you the impression that color is fading too quickly. Often even with proper care, clients may lose original hair strokes which make brows look uneven. It is absolutely normal. That is the reason why most clients need a touch-up after 5-6 weeks.

Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, it will look like dandruff flakes or dry skin. However, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows.  The final look of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 30 days after your procedure.

Never rub the treated area as it will disturb the skin from natural healing and could potentially cause infection.

Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun.  Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly. When using foundation, be aware when applying to avoid your healed eyebrows. If your foundation covers healed brows, your eyebrows will appear lighter.

You can now enjoy your beautiful new eyebrows.  You will simply love your new gorgeous fresh look!

How many appointments does it take?

For microblading, at least two appointments are needed initially. Each of these appointments being 5-6 weeks apart. During your Perfecting Session, we will assess the pigment retention and make any adjustments necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates.

Does it hurt?

The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. A cream anesthetic is applied for 30 minutes before the procedure. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the duration of the procedure. Our guests are usually pleased to discover that it is no more painful than tweezing or threading! With any tattoo, mild discomfort and slight swelling should be anticipated.

How long does it last?

Microblading is a permanent procedure. However, the pigment will significantly fade over time and we recommend scheduling a Yearly Touch-Up Service to keep your brows looking their best.

Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including skin type and tone, pigment selection,  lifestyle (sun exposure, smoking, etc), your overall health, as well as the use of acidic and/or brightening skincare products and skincare services.

Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment.

Home Post Care Tips & Tricks

Microblading post-care is very important to the appearance and longevity of your new eyebrows. Do not touch your brows for the first 24 hours.  For the next 7 days, you will wash with a mild cleanser and apply the provided healing cream for the following 7 days.

The following must be avoided during all 14 days post-microblading procedure:

  • Increased sweating
  • Practicing sports
  • Swimming
  • Hot sauna, hot bath, or Jacuzzi
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning
  • UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading
  • Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face or neck
  • Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment
  • Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
  • Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds
  • Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles
  • Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab

Itching and flaking may appear in a few weeks following the microblading procedure.

Who should not get microblading?

Pregnant or breastfeeding:

We do not recommend this because it is not worth taking a risk for your child.

Keloid scars:

We do not want to touch keloids because they may have scar tissue built up beneath the skin and do not want to take that risk of cutting that area of the skin.

Autoimmune diseases:

Due to your compromised skin health.

On blood thinner or have bleeding disorders:

Pinpoint bleeding is normal, whereas excessive bleeding is not. If you are on blood thinners this could allow you to bleed too much which will make it more difficult to implant to pigment into the skin. The pigment will be pushed out and the microblading process will be very difficult to achieve.

On Accutane within the last year:

Accutane extremely thins the top layer of your skin. We want your skin to be at its normal healthy self during microblading and also so it can heal properly.

Botox within the last 2 weeks:

If you’ve gotten botox near your brow area it is best to wait the 2 weeks before getting microblading because that is when the injected substances have fully settled on the facial muscles.

Stop Retinol/RetinA at least 2 weeks prior:

Retin A/Retinol can increase inflammation and allow for infection.

Sunburned or have dermatitis:

You must be completely healed from both of these before your appointment because if not then your skin will flake, resulting in loss of pigment from microblading.

Chemical peels, facials, microdermabrasion 4 weeks prior:

These are to be avoided because the outer layer of the skin is removed. Removing the top layer of the skin will result in loss of pigment in your new microbladed strokes.

– Allergic to nickel, lidocaine, epinephrine:

We use a tiny blade made of nickel that cuts the skin so we do not want you having an allergic reaction during the procedure. Also, the numbing agents we use contain both lidocaine and epinephrine so we do not want you having a reaction to these either.

WILL NEED DOCTOR’S NOTE IF:

Diabetic:

Your microblading may heal slower and may be more at risk for infection.

– Had chemotherapy within the last year:

Your immune system is compromised.

–Taking seizure or other medication:

Many medications have effects on the body so you will want to ask your doctor to make sure this is safe for you.
